You’re used to traveling on your own, and you’ve always planned your vacations with great success. Travelling with your family is a whole different story. It’s a whole adventure to prepare for, as you’re responsible for protecting, entertaining and ensuring the necessities for you and your family. Here’s our guide to the different steps you need to take to ensure you have a wonderful vacation with your family.
Start by making your reservations
Once you’ve chosen your destination, it’s time to book your plane ticket or accommodation. Booking a few weeks or months in advance will save you money and avoid unpleasant surprises. Since you’ll be traveling in large numbers, it’s best to book an economy-class ticket, non-stop if possible.

When it comes to booking accommodation, opt for an economical solution, especially family-friendly accommodation. The best accommodation for families is, of course, motels with child-friendly facilities. These motels in my area are equipped with swimming pools, water parks, water slides, kids’ clubs, entertainment, playgrounds… Adults are not left out, as these family-friendly motels offer shows, restaurants, parks, and snack bars.
Family-friendly motels are usually close to many tourist attractions and activities. You’ll find family motels close to water parks, zoos, museums, historical sites, amusement parks and much more… so you’ll have a wonderful vacation.

Choose an ideal destination
If you’re not sure which destination to choose, there are cities that are ideal for solo visits, others that are ideal for couples, and finally, there are destinations for family vacations. For family vacations, several cities are reputed to be less expensive: Andalusia, Bulgaria, Portugal, the Canary Islands, Croatia, Thailand, Greece, Morocco, and many others. You can have fun with your family as if you were in Dubai, Montreal, or Paris on a small budget.
Planning family activities
It’s important to plan your itinerary and activities with your family, as you don’t want any unpleasant surprises, especially as you’ll probably have your children with you. Depending on your destination, make a list of museums to visit, activities to do, sights to see and so on. With the help of Google Maps, travel tips and tourist sites, you can work out all the activities in less than an hour.
Think about renting a car
Don’t forget that you’re traveling with your family. So you can’t afford to hitchhike or Uber Eat every time you want to get around. You have car rental agencies that can rent you their vehicles for the duration of your stay. You can also choose to rent a vehicle with a driver. We personally recommend this last option, as the driver can act as a tour guide, but will also ensure your safety.
Don’t forget to travel with accessories
Accessories can include tools for everyday use, or equipment for your wife and children. So you’ll need to organize your suitcases, carry a first-aid kit, baby accessories and so on. Don’t forget to take out insurance and notify your family and friends that you’re taking a vacation in a particular destination.
